My apologies folks.

It appears that I hadn't read the README file well enough. Under the heading
"Server Defects Corrected in Patch 2" is the following:

Defect 12534
For kerberos authentication, two new binaries have been created:
klog_krb.exe and afsauthent_krb.dll. To use kerberos authentication,
rename these binaries to klog.exe and afsauthent.dll.

Unfortunately, I had only looked under "Windows Client Defects Corrected in
Patch 2".

My thanks goes to Rex Basham of ibm.com who pointed that information out to me.

After I renamed the two files, things now seem to work correctly.
